Back at it!

Well okay, I've always been at it but I haven't posted to this blog in so long! To update ya'll I moved back to Utah and I now have a kiddo! Family life is a busy one but I managed to finish my short Noir Mouse. I created this trailer to give you all a peek at what I've learned. There is room for improvement on this project, I'm always learning, but I have spent a long time on this short and now I must move on. I look forward to telling more stories and letting my creativity fuel the passion for bringing characters to life!

WIP

Here is a shot in progress from my thesis short, Noir Mouse.

In this WIP I have started the blocking stage of animation for the woman character. Here is an example of transferring my video reference into gesture drawings before I go into maya and make the key poses.

Gesture

Practicing those building blocks to get better at gestures.

Gesture drawings

I have plenty of gesture sketches to share. To start, here are some from this spring semester. Gesture drawing, usually 2-5 minute studies, helped me understand how to better pose characters in maya, and therefore communicate my animation more clearly. I'll be updating as go through the process of taking my references and sketching the key poses and later translating that into 3D.
